Starting from Tain l’Hermitage, the Saint Joseph S itinerary takes its name from the local wine appellation : Saint Joseph. After following the Via Rhôna for about 9km, you will cross the “Avenue du Vercors” bridge to reach La Roche-de-Glun.
After crossing a second bridge, you will find yourself on the right bank of the Rhône, where you will begin a climb on a quiet road alongside the Chalaix Stream. There are very few cars going through this road, you will be able to enjoy the nature around you while still being on the road.

Then, you will turn right to join the famous “piste de rôle,” a wide dirt and gravel path winding through vineyards with breathtaking views of the Rhône. This gravel section is one of the most famous in the area for its view!

The ascent is gradual until the descent to Tournon-sur-Rhône via the panoramic road, offering clear views of the river and its surroundings throughout the descent. Note: Be careful during the descent, as the road remains busy.
This beautiful route starting from Tain l’Hermitage will allow you to discover the richness of the region’s vineyards as well as its extensive gravel paths.
